We are a nonprofit organization in Louisville, KY that inspires students ages 6 - 18 from under-resourced communities to grow their imaginations through writing—to see minds open and pencils move.
We fulfill our mission through writing and publishing programs, creative partnerships with schools, and a community of engaged volunteers.
We believe that writing builds confidence, persistence, mindfulness, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
We believe that creativity is fundamental to development and acts as a powerful educational tool.
We believe that students should see their own work as a finished product, relevant to the world and those around them.
We believe in the transformational power that individual adult attention has on student learning and resilience.
Young Authors Greenhouse is committed to creating an inclusive environment. We welcome all identities and strive to amplify student voices. We believe that all of our students have a right to express their thoughts in a diverse, safe, and supportive space. We do not discriminate individuals on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, socio-economic status, nationality, marital status, English fluency, parental status, immigration status, gender identity, sexual orientation, military service, or disability.
We prioritize neighborhoods that are traditionally underserved and express a need for our programs.
